Royal Asscher

Royal Asscher™ was founded in 1854 as the I.J Asscher Diamond Company. The company has a legendary European heritage and an exclusive client list of international royalty and celebrities. Royal Asscher™ has retained its reputation as master gemologists, cutters and jewelers, the company is one of the most eminent and prestigious brands in the industry.

The difference between the Royal Asscher Cut and the Asscher Cut:
The Royal Asscher Cut is the Asscher family’s successor to their original 1902 Asscher Cut, it has 16 extra facets and very strict proportions with incredible refraction of light. It is widely acknowledged as a superior beauty in comparison to its predecessor. The Asscher family no longer cuts the original Asscher Cut, the patent on the original Asscher Cut expired during World War 2, at a time when the Asscher family was interned in Europe’s concentration camps. The name Asscher, and indeed the story of the creation of the cut is often used today to glamorize the generic square-emerald “Asscher” cut. There are
very few ‘true’ vintage Asscher’s in circulation and the origin of these diamonds is impossible to determine. Also, in 1980, the company changed its name from the Asscher Diamond Company to Royal Asscher after being awarded a Royal title from Queen Juliana of the Netherlands. The
company’s signature diamond is the Royal Asscher Cut.
